MAYOR FOSTER GUEST STARS IN ‘TREME’
HAMMOND, Louisiana — Mayor Mayson Foster is to guest star in an episode of the HBO series ‘Treme’ scheduled to air next Sunday.
In his critically-acclaimed cameo role, Foster plays the part of Chalmette jazz musician Lionel ‘Streetcar’ Desire, the husband of Bourbon Street night club owner Stella Owens.
In one of his scenes, which is said to be pivotal to the plot’s development, Streetcar fights off an alligator with his trombone as flood waters rise in his shotgun home. Having successfully choked the enraged reptile, he moves to the window and sprinkles Tabasco sauce over a king cake as he shoots at a coastguard helicopter.
Later in the episode we find Streetcar and Stella awaiting rescue on the roof of the house. Stella is lashed to the chimney with Mardi Gras beads. Swigging from a bottle of Dixie Beer, Foster’s character spoon feeds her seafood gumbo while he plays “I Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans’ to attract the attention of rescuers, who arrive in an air-boat bristling with assault rifles and looted plasma screen TV’s.
Security was tightened during filming of the episode due to constant interruptions from local musician Eddie Veach, who repeatedly walked into shot carrying a sign which read, “It should have been me!”
The show airs next Sunday in New Orleans at 9pm New Orleans time and contains some scenes of a New Orleans nature.
