FAN INSTALLED TO BATTLE SUMMER HEAT

HAMMOND, Louisiana — Summer strolls, morning jogs, and afternoon delights will soon be much cooler thanks to the installation of a large fan on N. Cypress Street.

The project was the brainchild of City Councilman Jason “Good Lookin’ White Boy” Hood, who sketched the fan’s design on a napkin while daydreaming about new inventions during a city council meeting last month.

The fan is set to be switched on during a ceremony at Hot August Night on August 20.

As temperatures reached over 100-degrees Monday, Mayor Mayson Foster urged the City Council to switch the fan on early.

“Hot August Night is three weeks away,” said a sweaty Foster from the backseat of his city-issued Chrysler 300.

Last week, workers began a lengthy series of renovations to the interior of City Hall, forcing Foster to temporarily take up his mayoral duties from the inside of his car. He told HAN, “Turning that damn thing on now would certainly make my job a hell of a lot easier.”
