PORT MANCHAC GETS GREENLIGHT FOR NEW FORT
MANCHAC, Louisiana — The construction of a fort at Port Manchac has been approved after Port President Parker Layrisson secured blankets, cushions, and other materials from BP.
The announcement has come less than a week after BP rejected a proposal to fund an oil cleanup command center at the port.
“We’re happy that our lakes will be getting some kind of protection,” admitted Tangipahoa Parish President Gordon Burgess.
Burgess has ensured that he will personally supervise the construction of the fort. “I’ve told Parker that if he needs any heavy lifting, he comes to me,” he said.
HAN cannot confirm the details of the fort, but sources believe Layrisson will support his structure with clothespins and any heavy items he can find “to keep the blankets from slipping off the chairs.”
Potential items include an encyclopedia, an upside-down footstool, and a pair of Layrisson’s shoes.
“I might as well use my shoes,” Layrisson confirmed to the Daily Star this afternoon, “because no one will be allowed entry into the fort with their shoes on. I’m going to be covering the floor of the fort with a pallet of blankets to ensure that snack clean-up is an easy task.”
